For sale is a rare original VELLEROY BOCH METTLACH POTTERY SOUVENIR NAZI 1940 CHRISTMAS WAR PLATE. This item is in excellent condition. It has no cracks or chips. The plate has a rich tan / coffee color. It has two small holes on the back for hanging this plate up for display. The plate measures 8" across. Mettlach is well known for their beer steins and souvenir plates. This is an original 1939-1940 era piece. It honors the Wehrmacht and specifically the 79 infantry division "Tapfer und Treu" ("valiant and loyal"). This is a very rare and extremely hard to find piece. How many of these survived the war? How many have ever come up for sale in recent years? This example is in perfect condition and has no flaws to note.
