The letters are individually cut and not on a contrasting background. For example you have to put the green letters on a light-colored background to create the contrast. The white letters work well on a dark background like a car window. (the right color may not always show in the picture window from the drop-down menu due to Atomic Mall's limitations)...

Measure the area you want to apply the sticker to before ordering to make sure it fits.
Ideal surface to place it on is smooth metal, plastic or glass. The sticker will be less adhesive on a wall painted with flat latex paint and even less on an uneven surface with grain such as stucco or unfinished wood. The stickers in the photos are on corrugated plastic, which accounts for the horizontal lines.
