The pattern on this tray features a Native American Sgraffito or Etched Pottery style pot. It is 10 1/2" across, can be used as a tray or a plate, and is in lovely gently used condition. It has the original gold label on the back. There are a few light scratches and scuffs on this tray/plate. The measurements of the tray are approximately 15" W x 10" H. The Couroc label is completely readable and has one corner missing with a few folds. MAKER: Couroc of California, Monterey, CA AGE: made in 1980's, approx. 32 years old. CONDITION: Used, very good. BOX: No box, no COA. STAND: No stand. DAMAGE: Minimal scratches. OWNER: Original owner. HISTORY: Couroc of California was founded by Guthrie Courvoisier, owner of Courvoisier Galleries in San Francisco in 1948, the pieces were the wedding and shower present of choice from 1950's to the 1980's and ceased production in 1990. During the early years, they were produced by skilled artisans who carefully arranged bits and pieces of common metal items such as springs, screws, glitter, safety pins and paper clips, shells, corral, woods and coins into a special material called black satin black phenolic (this material is resistant to alcohol and boiling water, but is not dishwasher safe) on to many different types and shapes of trays, boxes, ashtrays and glass barware.
