EEG EN470 Smart Encoder III Closed Caption XDS URL Broadcast Encoding Captioning The Model EN470 LINE 21 SMART ENCODER III is the STANDARD for Broadcast Closed Caption Encoders. It can recover existing Line 21 code from the input video signal and insert locally supplied CAPTIONS and TEXT into Line 21 of either field, XDS data into field 2 or process both fields simultaneously.

The EN470 has three RS 232 Data Ports and one RS422 Port. The user may configure these Data ports according to his operational needs. The EN470 comes with one built in Modem with provision for a second internal Modem. The modems can be used as alternate ports in addition to the three RS 232 ports.

The Smart Encoder III has many important features such as:

Broadcast quality outputs for both Encoder & Decoder.
By-pass protected for power failure.
NTSC and PAL operation.
No time base corrector needed in most cases.
Precise Line 21 waveform digitally synthesized.
Built in two field decoder with XDS display capability.
Three Serial Data Ports, one Modem and one VTR control port.
Second internal modem optional.
LCD Status display.
NVM maintains user setups.
Optional D1, Component Serial or D2, Composite Parallel insertion.
Optional longitudinal time code reader.
