Description

This auction is for an original photograph from World War I of "Serg. Hercules Korgis, a Greek-American soldier and one of the wars greatest heroes. Sergt. Korgis was shot through the neck, captured by the Germans afterward escaping and returning captured single handed a whole German machine Gun Battalion of 203 men." That is the caption on the photo. Korgis served with Company L, 23rd Division Infantry Regiment, 2nd Division AEF in Oct/Nov 1918 near Mont Blanc. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. Photo is stamped on back with copyright information, copyright by Bacharach and was released for publication provided copyright credit was given. This was from an estate where several other of these original photos were found. Most were from Universal. Photo is in good condition, has tape marks on white border, a few minor creases. Still a great and rare war collectible.

Thanks for looking!!

Please note that Atomic Mall has introduced a new detailed rating system that is based on 1-to-5 stars in four categories. However, most Atomic Mall buyers are not aware that a 4-star rating, for example, which would usually be considered a good or very good rating to most people, is considered to Atomic Mall as failing and sellers who receive less than a 4.6 rating are being charged more to list and sell on Atomic Mall. Our rating system is based on a 30-day average, so one or two 4's a month can really knock you down!! These sellers items will also appear lower in search results thus decreasing the likelihood of a sale and making it more difficult for you to find what you are looking for. If you would be so kind, please use care when you complete the survey because the rating will have a huge impact on the seller's ability to continue to sell on Atomic Mall. Also, when completing the shipping cost rating, please consider that our mailing supplies; bubble wrap, plastic protectors, photo mailers, padded envelopes, tape, etc., are not free to us. And the new Atomic Mall Shipping "Wizard" calculates most postage now which is not always accurate. I try and refund any amount that is excessive of the costs. There are many instances in which the cost calculated is less than the actual cost. I have chosen as my own personal policy to cover the excess amount rather than giving the buyer any surprises at the end of the sale. If you are unhappy with a transaction, please contact me. If, on the other hand, you are pleased with the results, please take the time to complete the survey with the 5-star rating-it would be most appreciated!!!**

Also buyers should also be aware of the fact that we have listing and final sales fees from Atomic Mall as well as fees that Paypal charges for accepting your payment.
