Description
It is that time of year in rural South Dakota to put up beef meat for the year. Therefore, it means it's also time to render food-grade beef tallow. We process it all by hand just as we learned as children from our German emigrant farmer grandparents. (Way too many years ago!)
We just rendered some last night for our fall soap making and thought perhaps there are other folks who are soap makers who do not have ready access to pure, organic, grass-feed, hand-rendered, beef only, farm fresh, unbleached tallow. Only the best here!
Our high quality beef tallow comes in 1 pound units. Each 1 pound unit will come shipped in airtight packaging. Use it to make boutique quality soaps, home laundry soap, cosmetics and lotions, etc.
As a creamy, unbleached, grass-feed product it can produce both naturally creamy colored soap bars, or pure white bars (providing you add a bit of borax when processing your soap recipe). Then, if you so choose, you can tint you white soap to whatever color(s) makes you happy. :)
These coloring agents can be had a your local hobby supply store. Or, email me and I will put up a listing for you if you don't have easy access to the product.
Tallow creates a nice, rich, creamy lather with good conditioning properties to your soaps. It also increases the bars hardness making them the most economical and long-lasting variety of soaps.
A basic white soap recipe can include various ratios of beef tallow, coconut oil, fancy oils, etc. Shea butter can also be added. Or, make the early homesteader variety, that being made with tallow only or a 50-50% tallow and lard recipe.
If you are into historical village or Civil war reenactment this could be quite a desirable item to contribute to your sutler's booth sale items.
We will gladly add a bonus of a family laundry soap making recipe or two with each purchase.
These family recipes are of European/German origin and what we have used on a daily basis for over 50 years. These recipes produce a nice, fresh-fragranced bar which makes the whole bathroom or laundry-room smell invitingly lovely.
Adding essential oils or fragrances like lemon, lavender, vanilla, mint, etc., are more options to consider and part of the exciting, fulfilling hobby, or small home business, of soap making.
Your resulting products will make great gifts and sale items for winter fairs, flea markets and online seller goods.
Keep this product refrigerated before and after opening the sealed package. Best to use it within 2 to 4 months but can be frozen up to a year and will still be as sweet as new-made.
