DESCRIPTION: Ty Princess Diana Beanie Baby Bear-1997, based on the descriptive information from Princess Beanie Baby at http://beaniebabiespriceguide.com. This "Princess" has a PE pellet Tush tag, made in China, the rose is white with a medium green stem, fur is the darker shade of purple, with the purple neck ribbon slightly contrasting with the bear color, never used, always sealed in an air tight box, numbered #464 inside tush tag, PE Pellets Tush Tag, the TY tag has always been kept in the Swing Tag Protector. CONDITION: Mint, excellent, like new, never used. BOX: Air tight see-through plastic box, STAND: No stand. DAMAGE/ODOR: None. OWNER: Original owner. HISTORY: In October of 1997 Ty Inc. announced that a Princess Beanie Baby was on the way. It was a charity Beanie with all profits going to the Princess Diana of Wales Memorial Foundation. "Princess" first arrived in retail stores in mid December of 1997. ALL were PVC tush tags that were made in China. In late December 1997 to early 1998 "Princess" began arriving in Canada & Europe, tags were PVC made in Indonesia. On Feb 9, 1998 Greenpeace announced that Ty Inc. would be using PE Pellets for all future products. In late March of 1998 retailers started receiving shipments of "Princess" with PE pellets. There is only one change to the swing tag other than the location they were made and that is on the last 4 lines of the inside right that refers to the Memorial Fund. Later versions had a space between the 2nd & 3rd lines of the reference to Diana's Memorial Fund. All versions prior to that had no space. All Princess Beanies have a red star on the tush tag. Some say there was a change in color on the embroidered rose stem on Princess Beanies' chest. This all goes to dye lot variations. It's the dye lot, not an oddity or a mistake or a change. The only Ty product that has the "official' Princess Diana charity emblem is the Ty Beanie Buddy (approximately 13 inches high and made of Tylon fabric). NONE of the Beanie Babies have this emblem, even though they are an official licensed product. The first "Princess" memorial toy was released on October 29, 1997 and retired April 13, 1999. DISPLAYED/STORED: Kept in air tight container in a closed china armoire. COLLECTOR'S ESTIMATED VALUE: Based on above information: $20.00-$55.00.
